We are currently working on a number of research projects on social search and web search. In the past, we have developed various Information Retrieval (IR) models in solving different web search problems and implemented different web applications.
Our research group, the Advanced Information Retrieval Applications (AIRA) research group, consists of Dr. Dennis Ng, the group and lab director, a number of students, which include Ph.D., M.S., and undergraduate students in Computer Science. This research group has been actively involved in various research projects in web applications, submitting external research grants to NSF and NIH, and publishing research results in the closely related areas in different venues, such as ACM and IEEE conferences and journals. Students who work in this research group are given challenging research problems to solve, with the expectation that they learn to become a mature researcher in their chosen areas of study and contribute in the research area of web information/data processing.
If you are interested in pursuing an advanced topic in web and social search, either for a M.S. thesis or Ph.D. dissertation, feel free to contact Dr. Dennis Ng (office: 3322 TMCB, email: ng@compsci.byu.edu, phone: 801-358-3532) for details.
