Why Iterative Methods?

• Sometimes we don't need to be exact.

  • Input has inaccuracy, etc.
  • Only requires a few iterations

• If the system is sparse, the matrix can be stored in a different format.

• Iterative methods are usually stable.

  • Errors are dampened
